Get Involved with WVUD!
Students and community members interested in radio are invited to become members of WVUD. To become a member, you must read the Constitution,
Bylaws, and Code of Conduct of WVUD, and sign a contractual agreement
stating that you have read and received these documents.
Members
are encouraged to get involved with one or more of WVUD's
departments. The departments include -- Music, News, Sports, Promotions,
Public Relations, Information, and Development. Members are required
to attend WVUD station meetings.
Getting On The Air
To become eligible for a radio show, you must obtain a WVUD Operator's
Certificate. The steps to follow are:

Obtain the
WVUD Technical Study Guide (which can be purchased for $5 in
the Student Media office in the Perkins Student Center).

Take the WVUD
Technical Exam (which can be completed between the hours of
9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on the weekdays in the Student Media
office).

Schedule training
sessions with the Training Director (Gary Irving, rootsdj@yahoo.com)
or the Chief Engineer (Dave Mackenzie, davemack@udel.edu)
to learn how to use our studio equipment.

Schedule training
sessions with the Chief Engineer (Dave Mackenzie, davemack@udel.edu)
regarding transmitter operation and the Emergency Alerting System
equipment usage.

Practice in
the studios to master the skills of radio.

Create a demo
tape that is representative of the type of radio program
that you would like to do. Please contact the Program Director
(Kelly Enfield, enfieldk@udel.edu)
regarding what the demo tape should include.

The tape will
be reviewed and critiqued by the Program Director, and will
contact you.

Once the demo
tape is approved, make sure you have obtained all of the necessary
signatures on your WVUD Operator's Certificate.

The Program
Director will discuss your options regarding time slots on WVUD
91.3 FM, or WVUD2.
